Herbert Stothart (1885–1949) was an American film composer and music director who worked extensively at MGM during Hollywood's golden era. He won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for his work on The Wizard of Oz (1939), blending Harold Arlen's songs with his own orchestral underscore. He also composed for films such as Mutiny on the Bounty and Mrs. Miniver.
