Jerry Catena (1902–2000) was a prominent figure in the Genovese crime family, rising to become one of the most powerful mob bosses in New Jersey. He built a sprawling criminal empire through control of labor unions and illegal gambling operations, largely operating behind the scenes. His life is examined in Scott Deitche's book "Shadows of Power."
