Sylvia Earle is an American marine biologist, oceanographer, and explorer known for her pioneering research on ocean ecosystems. A former chief scientist of NOAA, she has led more than 100 expeditions and logged thousands of hours underwater. She is a prominent advocate for ocean conservation and founded the nonprofit Mission Blue.
