The Van Buren is an approximately 1,900-capacity live music venue in Downtown Phoenix, housed in a historic 1929 auto dealership building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Opened in August 2017, it hosts nationally touring artists across genres including indie rock, hip-hop, country, metal, and EDM. The venue is operated by Live Nation and is also available for private and community events.

John Cameron Mitchell is an American actor, writer, and director best known for creating the rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He originated the title role on stage and directed and starred in the 2001 film adaptation, which became a cult classic. He has also directed films such as Shortbus and Rabbit Hole.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical created by John Cameron Mitchell and composer Stephen Trask, originally staged Off-Broadway in 1998. It follows Hedwig, a genderqueer East German rock singer, navigating identity and love. A cult film adaptation directed by Mitchell was released in 2001.
