Tutankhamun was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty who ruled around 1332–1323 BCE. He became one of history's most famous rulers after archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his nearly intact tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922, revealing a trove of golden artifacts including his iconic burial mask.
