Summer Storytime 2026
Blanton Museum of Art (BMA), Austin
Summer Storytime returns to the Blanton every Tuesday from June 2 through August 11, 2026, with sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Each session features picture book readings and guided looking at works in the Blanton's collection. The program is best suited for children ages 4–8 but open to all ages.
Storytime is free with museum admission and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission itself is free every Tuesday, courtesy of the Moody Family Free Day Endowment. Sessions take place in the Blanton Galleries — ask staff at Check-In for directions. For those who can't attend on Tuesdays, the Blanton also offers Storytime sessions at Blanton All Day, its monthly all-day art event; tickets and details are available on the Blanton's website.
To protect the art, diaper bags, backpacks larger than 11 x 15 inches, and large-framed child carriers are not permitted in the galleries. Free lockers in the Smith Building are available for these items. Soft frontpacks and strollers are welcome inside the museum, and a designated stroller storage area is available — ask Visitor Services at Check-In.
Paid parking is available at the Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Blanton Members receive $4 discounted parking by bringing their parking ticket to the Visitor Services Desk; general visitors pay regular rates directly at the garage.
