Workshop on "Texas ↔ Global Connections in K12 Education"

Robert L. Patton Hall (RLP) 1.302B — University of Texas at Austin, Austin

This full-day professional development workshop is designed to help K–12 educators draw connections between Texas and the wider world — exploring how Texas both influences and is influenced by global trends in history, economics, culture, migration, and more. The goal is to make those connections practical: giving teachers ways to bring global perspectives into Texas-focused courses and Texas examples into globally focused lessons.

The morning focuses on content, using real-world case studies, discussion, and ready-to-use resources to examine topics such as trade, energy, cultural exchange, and migration through a Texas-to-global and global-to-Texas lens. The afternoon is more hands-on: participants work with peers, share ideas, and get feedback on ways to incorporate global content into their existing courses.

Stipend: Participants who register by May 19th are eligible for a $100 stipend (mailed by check after the workshop) to cover mileage and parking. Those in the U.S. on a visa are not eligible for the stipend due to UT business procedures, but may qualify for gas mileage reimbursement — contact the organizers for details. Registration remains open after May 19th until all spots are filled, but late registrants are not eligible for the stipend.

Parking and location details will be shared closer to the workshop date.
